Morning Prayer for April 20
My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
God’s Word
There shall cleave nought of the cursed thing to thine hand
Today’s takeaway: Hold on to the hope of seeing Jesus, and let it make you pure today.
Come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing
Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul
Hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.
Beloved, now are we the sons of God, … and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
The grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
Prayer
Holy Father, Your grace has appeared, and it teaches me to say no to ungodliness and worldly desires and to live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world. Keep my hands from clinging to anything You have forbidden. As a stranger and pilgrim, help me stay clear of the desires that war against my soul. Since I hope to see Christ as He is, purify me as He is pure. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
