Evening Prayer for April 19

About 2–3 minutes · 7 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

His word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.

Today’s takeaway: When God's love fills your heart, you cannot help telling others what He has done.

Necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!

What is my reward then? Verily that, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel of Christ without charge, that I abuse not my power in the gospel.

They called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John answered and said unto them, … we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.

The love of Christ constraineth us

I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: … Thou wicked and slothful servant, … Thou oughtest … to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.

Go … to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee

Before you pray

Who could you tell this week about what the Lord has done for you?

Prayer

Father, Jeremiah said Your word was like a fire shut up in his bones. The apostles could not stop speaking about what they had seen and heard. Forgive me for the times I have hidden my talent out of fear. The love of Christ compels me. Give me courage to go to my friends and tell them what great things You have done for me. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
