Evening Prayer for September 9

About 2–3 minutes · 9 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

My feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped.

Today’s takeaway: When your foot slips, God's mercy holds you up, and Jesus prays for you.

When I said, My foot slippeth; thy mercy, O LORD, held me up.

The Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not

A just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again

Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.

Rejoice not against me, O … enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me.

He shall deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee.

If any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous

Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

Before you pray

Where did you almost slip today, and how did God hold you up?

Prayer

LORD, my feet had almost slipped today. But when I said my foot was slipping, Your mercy held me up. Jesus prayed for Peter that his faith would not fail, and for me. A just man falls seven times and rises again. When I fall, I will arise; when I sit in darkness, You will be my light. I have an Advocate with the Father. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
