Evening Prayer for September 7
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me
Today’s takeaway: You may feel poor and small, yet the Lord is thinking of you right now.
I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil
My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
How precious … are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.
LORD, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep.
Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward
Not many mighty, not many noble, are called
Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom
Having nothing, and yet possessing all things.
The unsearchable riches of Christ
Before you pray
What would change if you believed the Lord is thinking of you tonight?
Prayer
Father, I am poor and needy, yet You think of me. Your thoughts toward me are thoughts of peace. Your thoughts are higher than mine, and they are more than I can count. Not many mighty or noble are called, but You have chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith. I have nothing, and yet in Christ I possess all things. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
