Morning Prayer for September 8
My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
God’s Word
Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting.
Today’s takeaway: God weighs the heart, not the outward show, so live honestly before Him today.
The LORD is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.
That which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.
The LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.
Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
What is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
What things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.
Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts
Thou hast proved mine heart; thou hast visited me in the night; thou hast tried me, and shalt find nothing
Prayer
Lord God, You are a God of knowledge, and by You actions are weighed. Man looks on the outward appearance, but You look on the heart. What people admire is often worthless in Your sight. You desire truth in the inward parts. You have tested my heart and visited me in the night. Whatever I once counted as gain, I count as loss for Christ. Weigh me and make me true. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
