Morning Prayer for September 4

About 2–3 minutes · 12 Scripture passages (KJV)

My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.

God’s Word

Sit still, my daughter

Today’s takeaway: Be still and trust God instead of rushing, because quiet confidence is your strength.

Take heed, and be quiet; fear not, neither be fainthearted

Be still, and know that I am God

Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?

The loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be made low: and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day.

Mary, … sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word.

Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength

Commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still.

Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD. His heart is established

He that believeth shall not make haste.

Prayer

LORD, in returning and rest I am saved, and in quietness and confidence is my strength. Help me sit still this morning, like Mary at Jesus' feet, before the day starts pulling at me. I do not need to rush or fret. My heart is fixed, trusting in You. Let me carry this quiet into today. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
