Evening Prayer for September 23
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
He that overcometh shall inherit all things
Today’s takeaway: An inheritance that never fades waits for you in heaven, so run your race with hope.
If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.
Now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.
An inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you
All things are your’s; … the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are your’s
Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit
Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.
Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us

What do you need to lay aside to keep running well?
Prayer
Father, whoever overcomes will inherit all things. If my hope were only in this life, I would be most miserable, but You have prepared a better country, and You are not ashamed to be called my God. My inheritance is kept in heaven. Tonight I lay aside every weight and the sin that so easily besets me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
