Evening Prayer for September 20

About 2–3 minutes · 8 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

Poor, yet making many rich

Today’s takeaway: Jesus became poor to make you rich in grace, so you have everything in Him.

Ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

Of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.

My God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work

Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?

Not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty

We have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

Before you pray

How has Christ made you rich?

Prayer

Lord Jesus, You were rich, yet for my sake You became poor, so that through Your poverty I might be rich. From Your fullness I have received grace upon grace. Your Father will supply all my need. God is able to make all grace abound toward me. I am only an earthen vessel, but I carry a treasure, and the power belongs to You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
