Evening Prayer for September 14

About 2–3 minutes · 10 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

Ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son

Today’s takeaway: You have been called into fellowship with Jesus, sharing His joy and His comfort.

He received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God

Be ye … followers of God, as dear children

If children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ

The brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame

These things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.

As the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ.

Before you pray

How did you show the family likeness of God today?

Prayer

Father, what manner of love You have given me, that I should be called Your child. You called me into the fellowship of Your Son, who received honor and glory from You. Help me be a follower of You, as a dear child. Jesus wanted His joy to be fulfilled in me. As His sufferings abound in me, let His comfort abound too. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
