Evening Prayer for October 6

About 2–3 minutes · 7 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

What is the thing that the LORD hath said unto thee?

Today’s takeaway: God asks you to do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with Him.

He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?

To keep the commandments of the LORD, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?

As many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.

Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made

God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son

Speak, LORD; for thy servant heareth.

Before you pray

What is the Lord saying to you through His word tonight?

Prayer

LORD, You have shown me what is good: to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with my God. The law could not save me; it showed me my sin and led me to Christ. In these last days You have spoken to us by Your Son. Like Samuel, I say tonight, Speak, LORD, for Your servant is listening. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
