Evening Prayer for October 3
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
There are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.
Today’s takeaway: God gives different gifts to each believer, so serve faithfully with the gift you have.
Over the king’s treasures was Azmaveth the son of Adiel: and over the storehouses … And over them that did the work of the field for tillage of the ground was Ezri … And over the vineyards was Shimei
These were the rulers of the substance which was king David’s.
God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.
All these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever.
Before you pray
What role has God given you in His household?
Prayer
Father, David had officers over his treasures, his fields, and his flocks, each with a different job. You have given me a gift too, from the same Spirit. Forgive me for envying other people's gifts or neglecting mine. Show me this week where to use what You gave me, as a good steward of Your grace. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
