Evening Prayer for October 19
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
Consolation in Christ, … comfort of love, … fellowship of the Spirit
Today’s takeaway: Life is short and full of trouble, but God comforts you and holds you close.
Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble. He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not.
My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.
The Father, … shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever
The Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name
Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
If we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
And so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
Before you pray
Whom could you comfort with the comfort God has given you?
Prayer
Father of mercies and God of all comfort, my days are few and full of trouble, but You are the strength of my heart. You sent the Comforter to be with me forever. You comfort me in all my trouble so I can comfort others. Since Jesus died and rose again, those who sleep in Him will come with Him. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
