Evening Prayer for October 14
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
Give us this day our daily bread.
Today’s takeaway: God gives daily bread for your body, and Jesus, the true bread, for your soul.
I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.
Bread shall be given him; his waters shall be sure.
The ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook.
My God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
He humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, … that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.
Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.
Before you pray
How did God give you your daily bread today?
Prayer
Father, give us this day our daily bread. You fed Elijah by ravens and Israel with manna. David never saw the righteous forsaken. Tonight I thank You for today's provision, and I trust You for tomorrow's. I bring You my financial worries by name. Jesus is the true bread from heaven; feed me with Him too. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
