Evening Prayer for October 13

About 2–3 minutes · 11 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

Today’s takeaway: Doing God's will is like building on rock, and it lasts when storms come.

Understanding what the will of the Lord is.

It is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.

This is the will of God, even your sanctification

That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.

Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth

Wherefore lay apart all filthiness

Be ye holy; for I am holy.

Whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.

Whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.

The world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

Before you pray

Where did you resist God's will today?

Prayer

Father, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Your will is my sanctification. Tonight I ask where I pursued my own will today instead of Yours. Forgive me. Help me understand what Your will is, and give me the desire to do it tomorrow. Whoever does Your will abides forever. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
