Evening Prayer for October 12
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
Thy kingdom come.
Today’s takeaway: God's kingdom grows quietly like seed, and one day it will fill the whole earth.
In the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.
A stone … cut out without hands
Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.
The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.
Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God
So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground; And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how.
But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come.
Be ye … ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
The Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come.
Before you pray
Where do you want to see God's kingdom come in your life?
Prayer
Father, Your kingdom come. It grows like seed, night and day, even while we sleep, and we do not know how. Tonight I trust You to keep growing Your kingdom in my family, my church, and my own heart while I rest. Keep me ready, for the Son of man comes at an hour I do not expect. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
