Evening Prayer for November 26

About 2–3 minutes · 8 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

The sorrow of the world worketh death.

Today’s takeaway: If your spirit feels too wounded to bear, Jesus heals broken hearts, so reach out for help.

When Ahithophel saw that his counsel was not followed, he saddled his ass, and arose, and gat him home to his house, to his city, and put his household in order, and hanged himself, and died

A wounded spirit who can bear?

Is there no balm in Gilead; is there no physician there? why then is not the health of the daughter of my people recovered?

The LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, … to comfort all that mourn; To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Preached unto him Jesus.

He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.

Before you pray

What wound in your spirit do you need Jesus to heal?

Prayer

Lord Jesus, a wounded spirit who can bear? Is there no balm in Gilead? There is, and it is You. You came to heal the brokenhearted. Tonight I bring You the wound I carry. Heal me, and heal those I love who are hurting. If I am in real darkness tonight, help me reach out to someone I trust. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
