Evening Prayer for May 20

About 2–3 minutes · 12 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

Jesus saith unto her, Mary.

Today’s takeaway: Jesus knows you by name and carries you on His heart before the Father.

Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.

The sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and … the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.

Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me.

The foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his.

We have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God

Thou shalt take two onyx stones, and grave on them the names of the children of Israel

The children of Israel: and Aaron shall bear their names before the LORD upon his two shoulders for a memorial. And thou shalt make

The breastplate of judgment

And thou shalt set in it … four rows of stones

And the stones shall be with the names of the children of Israel

And they shall be upon Aaron’s heart, when he goeth in before the LORD

Before you pray

What would change if you believed God knows you by name?

Prayer

Lord Jesus, after You rose, You called Mary by name, and she knew You. You know my name too, and You have engraved it on Your hands. Tonight, when I feel unseen or forgotten, let me hear You call me by name. You carry me on Your shoulders and over Your heart. I rest in being known by You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
