Evening Prayer for March 9
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
They sung as it were a new song
Today’s takeaway: Heaven's song is about grace, because salvation is God's gift and not our work.
A new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour
By grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory
Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
Thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation
I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, … cried … saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.
Before you pray
What grace did God give you today that you did nothing to earn?
Prayer
Father, tonight I want to sing the new song. You saved me not because of anything good I had done but because of Your mercy. It is all grace, so I have nothing to boast about. Not to me, O LORD, but to Your name be the glory. Jesus loved me and washed me from my sins in His own blood. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
