Evening Prayer for March 6

About 2–3 minutes · 9 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

Today’s takeaway: Jesus was forsaken on the cross so that you would never be.

He was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; … the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

For the transgression of my people was he stricken.

It pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief

Jesus our Lord … was delivered for our offences

Hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God

Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

He hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us

Before you pray

What sin do you need to confess tonight, knowing Christ already bore it?

Prayer

Lord Jesus, on the cross You cried out, asking why God had forsaken You. You were forsaken so that I never would be. You were wounded for my transgressions and bruised for my iniquities. You who knew no sin were made sin for me, so that I could be made righteous in You. I lie down tonight at peace with God. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
