Evening Prayer for March 13

About 2–3 minutes · 9 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

O my God, my soul is cast down within me

Today’s takeaway: When your soul is downcast, trust God, who hears the afflicted and carries your load.

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength

Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee

He hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; neither hath he hid his face from him; but when he cried unto him, he heard.

Is any among you afflicted? let him pray.

Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. … Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

Be not faithless, but believing.

Lo, I am with you alway

Before you pray

What is weighing your soul down tonight?

Prayer

O God, my soul is cast down within me tonight. You have not despised the affliction of the afflicted or hidden Your face. So I pray. Keep me in perfect peace as I keep my mind on You. I cast this burden on You; hold me up. Jesus told me not to let my heart be troubled, and He is with me always. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
