Evening Prayer for March 12
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
Things that are pleasing in his sight.
Today’s takeaway: Faith and a quiet, thankful heart are what please God most.
Without faith it is impossible to please him
So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
The LORD taketh pleasure in his people
This is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully. … if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.
The ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, … is in the sight of God of great price.
Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the salvation of God.
I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving. This also shall please the LORD better than an ox or bullock that hath horns and hoofs.
I beseech you … brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
Before you pray
What did you do today simply to please the LORD, not people?
Prayer
Father, it amazes me that You take pleasure in Your people. Without faith I cannot please You, so I come by faith tonight. Let my praise and thanksgiving please You more than any offering. Give me the meek and quiet spirit You call precious. Where I was wronged today and held my tongue, receive it as an offering to You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
