Evening Prayer for June 28

About 2–3 minutes · 9 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

The Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits

Today’s takeaway: Hold on to God's Word, because it protects you from teaching that leads you astray.

Take heed therefore how ye hear

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom

Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.

How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth! Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation.

Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

Before you pray

What voices did you listen to today, and did they agree with God's word?

Prayer

Father, some will depart from the faith, and Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. Keep me in the gospel of Christ. Help me take heed how I hear, and let Your word dwell in me richly. Through Your precepts I get understanding. Raise the shield of faith over me tonight. Those who love Your law have great peace. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
