Evening Prayer for July 28
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
Let your requests be made known unto God.
Today’s takeaway: Pour out your heart to God as Hannah did, and trust Him with the answer.
Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.
There was given to me a thorn in the flesh, … For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities
I poured out my complaint before him; I shewed before him my trouble.
Hannah … was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the LORD, and wept sore. And she vowed a vow, and said, O LORD of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and … wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the LORD all the days of his life
The LORD remembered her.
We know not what we should pray for as we ought
He shall choose our inheritance for us
Before you pray
What do you want to pour out honestly before the Lord tonight?
Prayer
Father, Hannah poured out her soul before You in tears, and You remembered her. Paul asked three times for his thorn to be removed, and You answered with grace. Jesus told You that all things are possible for You, and then yielded to Your will. So tonight I pour out my heart honestly, and I trust You to choose what is best for me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
