Evening Prayer for July 22

About 2–3 minutes · 8 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

Keep yourselves in the love of God

Today’s takeaway: Stay in God's love by abiding in Jesus and loving one another.

Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

The fruit of the Spirit is love

Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples. As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.

Whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected

This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

Before you pray

How did you stay in God's love today, or drift from it?

Prayer

Father, keep me in Your love. You showed Your love for me while I was still a sinner, when Christ died for me. You are love, and whoever dwells in love dwells in You. Jesus told me to abide in His love by keeping His commandments. Let the fruit of love grow in me. Tonight I rest in the love that will not let me go. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
