Evening Prayer for July 20
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
He that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast.
Today’s takeaway: Joy in the LORD can carry you even when everything else fails.
The joy of the LORD is your strength.
The kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
Be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ
By him … let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.
Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.
Sorrowful, yet alway rejoicing
We glory in tribulations also
Before you pray
What gave you joy today, even if the day was hard?
Prayer
Lord God, even if the fig tree does not blossom and there is no fruit on the vine, I will still rejoice in You and be joyful in the God of my salvation. The joy of the LORD is my strength. Your kingdom is righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit. Tonight I give thanks for all things and offer You the sacrifice of praise. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
