Morning Prayer for July 21
My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
God’s Word
What profit is there of circumcision? Much every way
Today’s takeaway: God wants a changed heart, not just outward religion, and Christ gives it to you.
Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, and take away the foreskins of your heart
If … their uncircumcised hearts be humbled, and they then accept of the punishment of their iniquity: Then will I remember my covenant with Jacob, and also my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham will I remember
Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers
In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ
You, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses
Put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And … put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness
Prayer
Father, You have never wanted only outward religion. You told Israel to circumcise their hearts. In Christ I have received a circumcision made without hands, putting off the sins of the flesh. When I was dead in my sins, You made me alive with Him and forgave me. Help me put off the old self today and put on the new, created in righteousness and true holiness. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
