Evening Prayer for July 2

About 2–3 minutes · 9 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

Prayed the third time, saying the same words.

Today’s takeaway: Keep praying with persistence, yet always submit to the Father's will as Jesus did.

Who in the days of his flesh, … offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death

Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD

Continuing instant in prayer

Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication

By prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.

This is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us

Delight thyself … in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

Before you pray

What have you been praying about for a long time, and will you keep praying?

Prayer

Lord Jesus, in the garden You prayed three times with the same words, with strong crying and tears. So I will not give up on the things I keep bringing to You. I make my requests known with thanksgiving. I delight myself in the LORD and commit my way to Him. And I end tonight as You did: not as I will, but as You will. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
