Evening Prayer for July 17

About 2–3 minutes · 9 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

Sanctification of the Spirit

Today’s takeaway: The Holy Spirit is at work in you, bringing out love, joy, and peace.

Awake, O north wind; and come, thou south; blow upon my garden, that the spices thereof may flow out.

Behold this selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge!

Fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth; Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

The Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost

The love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace

In a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality.

All these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

Before you pray

Did God use a hard wind in your life today to bring out something good?

Prayer

Holy Father, the bride in the Song asked the north wind and the south wind to blow on her garden. You use both hard days and easy ones in my life. Today had some of each. Let Your Spirit bring out love, joy, and peace in me through both. Keep making me holy, one day at a time. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
