Evening Prayer for July 13

About 2–3 minutes · 9 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

Seek ye out of the book of the LORD

Today’s takeaway: Hide God's Word in your heart and teach it to your children.

Ye shall teach them your children

Lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes.

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.

By the word of thy lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer.

Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

We have … a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts

That we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

Before you pray

What did God's word do for you today?

Prayer

Father, thank You for Your book. Help me lay up Your words in my heart and teach them to my children. When Your law is in my heart, my steps will not slide. By the word of Your lips I have kept myself from the paths of the destroyer. Through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures, give me hope tonight. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
