Evening Prayer for July 1

About 2–3 minutes · 9 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

Eben-ezer, … Hitherto hath the LORD helped us.

Today’s takeaway: Look back tonight and see how far the LORD has helped you, and trust Him for tomorrow.

I was brought low, and he helped me.

Blessed be the LORD, because he hath heard the voice of my supplications. The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.

It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man. It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes.

Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God

He led them forth by the right way, that they might go to a city of habitation.

There failed not ought of any good thing which the LORD … spoken unto the house of Israel; all came to pass.

When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing.

Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.

Before you pray

Looking back, how has the LORD helped you up to this point?

Prayer

LORD, hitherto You have helped me. Like Samuel, I set up a stone tonight and call it Ebenezer. I was brought low, and You helped me. Jesus once asked His disciples if they had lacked anything, and they said, Nothing. I can say the same. It is better to trust in You than in people. I will rejoice in the shadow of Your wings. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
