Evening Prayer for January 6

About 2–3 minutes · 8 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

The apostles gathered themselves together unto Jesus, and told him all things, both what they had done

Today’s takeaway: At day's end, tell Jesus everything, as you would a friend closer than a brother.

There is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.

The LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend.

Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

When ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants

Ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

In every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

The prayer of the upright is his delight.

Before you pray

If you told Jesus everything you did today, what would you tell Him first?

Prayer

Lord Jesus, Your apostles came back and told You everything they had done. Tonight I do the same. Here is my day, the good and the not so good. You are a friend who sticks closer than a brother, and You call me Your friend. I am only a servant who did what I should. Thank You for listening. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
