Evening Prayer for January 30
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth.
Today’s takeaway: God's correction is for your good, and His plans for you are peace.
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
We have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.
Before I was afflicted I went astray: but now have I kept thy word.
It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes.
I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time
Before you pray
What hard lesson has God taught you that you are now grateful for?
Prayer
Father, it is good for a person to bear the yoke while young. Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I keep Your word. My earthly parents corrected me for a short time; You correct me for my good, so I can share Your holiness. Thank You for lessons I did not want but needed. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
