Morning Prayer for January 31

About 2–3 minutes · 7 Scripture passages (KJV)

My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.

God’s Word

If ye will not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you; … those which ye let remain of them shall be pricks in your eyes, and thorns in your sides, and shall vex you in the land wherein ye dwell.

Today’s takeaway: The fight against sin is real, but through Christ you are more than a conqueror.

Fight the good fight of faith

The weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; Casting down imaginations, … and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ

Brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

The flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.

We are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

Prayer

Lord, sins I tolerate become thorns in my side. I do not want to leave any of them living in my heart. Give me courage to fight the good fight of faith today. The weapons of my warfare are not the world's weapons; they are mighty through You. By Your Spirit, help me put to death the habits I keep making room for. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
