Morning Prayer for January 30

About 2–3 minutes · 7 Scripture passages (KJV)

My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.

God’s Word

Let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith

Today’s takeaway: Following Jesus means daily self-denial, but the prize at the end lasts forever.

If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

Whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.

Let us therefore cast off the works of darkness

Every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD

Prayer

Lord Jesus, author and finisher of my faith, I look to You this morning as I start my race again. Teach me to deny myself, take up my cross, and follow. Help me cast off the works of darkness. I have not arrived yet, but I press toward the mark. Keep me running with patience, not sprinting and quitting. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
