Evening Prayer for February 21

About 2–3 minutes · 5 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart.

Today’s takeaway: Seeds sown in tears will grow into joy, and your tested faith is precious to God.

They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.

That which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead

Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ

Before you pray

What have you sown in tears that you hope to reap in joy?

Prayer

LORD, light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart. Those who sow in tears will reap in joy. Some of what I sowed today was sown in tears. I trust You to bring a harvest from it in Your time. Give me a living hope tonight, and let me wake with gladness. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
