Evening Prayer for February 13

About 2–3 minutes · 8 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

Thy word hath quickened me.

Today’s takeaway: Jesus gives life that death cannot end, and His Word brings the soul to life.

The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.

As the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself

I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.

In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

As many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

The word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Before you pray

Which word from Scripture gave you life today?

Prayer

Lord, Your word has given me life. Jesus is the resurrection and the life. Tonight I want to go to sleep with Your word in my mind instead of the news, my phone, or my worries. Let one verse from today stay with me. Keep working in me as I sleep, and let me wake up hungry for more. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
