Evening Prayer for August 4
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
He sent from above, he took me, he drew me out of many waters.
Today’s takeaway: God reached down and drew you out of deep waters, and He is with you still.
He brought me up … out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.
You hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, … we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh
Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed
Out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice. For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me.
We went through fire and through water: but thou broughtest us out into a wealthy place.
When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee
Before you pray
From what deep water has God drawn you out?
Prayer
O God, You sent from above, took me, and drew me out of many waters. You brought me up from a horrible pit and set my feet on a rock. Jonah cried to You from the depths, and You heard him. When I pass through the waters, You are with me, and the rivers will not overflow me. You bring me into a wealthy place. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
