God’s Word

The tree of life

Today’s takeaway: Jesus is the true tree of life, and everyone who takes hold of Him lives.

God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

As the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will.

As the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself

To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

Happy is the man that findeth wisdom

Length of days is in her right hand

She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her.

Christ Jesus, … is made unto us wisdom

Before you pray

How is Christ your life tonight?

Prayer

Father, You have given me eternal life, and this life is in Your Son. One day I will eat from the tree of life in the paradise of God. Tonight I am tired, and life here feels thin. Remind me that the life I have in Christ has already begun and will never end. Let me rest in it. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
