Evening Prayer for August 25

About 2–3 minutes · 9 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God

Today’s takeaway: Praise God at all times, even at midnight, as Paul and Silas did in prison.

I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together.

The LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. O LORD of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.

Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.

Is any merry? let him sing psalms.

Be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Giving thanks always for all things

Singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

At midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.

Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.

Before you pray

What song of praise could you end today with?

Prayer

LORD, I will bless You at all times; Your praise will always be in my mouth. My soul makes its boast in You. You give grace and glory, and no good thing will You withhold. At midnight Paul and Silas prayed and sang praises to You in prison. Tonight I sing too, in my heart, whatever my circumstances. I rejoice in the Lord always. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
