Evening Prayer for August 18

About 2–3 minutes · 8 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

Today’s takeaway: If you boast at all, boast only in the Lord and in knowing Him.

Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD

I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ

I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth

I have … whereof I may glory through Jesus Christ in those things which pertain to God.

Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.

My heart rejoiceth in the LORD, … I rejoice in thy salvation.

Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth’s sake.

Before you pray

What did you boast about today, and what should you boast about?

Prayer

LORD, let me not glory in my wisdom, my strength, or my riches, but only in knowing You, the God who shows mercy and righteousness. I count all things loss for the excellence of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. My heart rejoices in You and in Your salvation. Not to me, O LORD, but to Your name be the glory. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
