Evening Prayer for August 1
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
The Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.
Today’s takeaway: The Lord is full of tender mercy, and He cares about every detail of your life.
Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him.
The LORD is gracious and full of compassion. He … will ever be mindful of his covenant.
He that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings: So the LORD alone did lead him, and there was no strange god with him.
His compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.
The same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
The very hairs of your head are all numbered.
Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.
Fear ye not therefore
Before you pray
How did God show you tender mercy today?
Prayer
LORD, You are very pitiful and of tender mercy. As a father pities his children, so You pity me. You who keep me neither slumber nor sleep. Your compassions fail not; they are new every morning. Jesus was moved with compassion for the crowds. You number the hairs of my head, and not a sparrow falls without You. So I will not fear tonight. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
