Evening Prayer for April 8

About 2–3 minutes · 10 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

They shall see his face

Today’s takeaway: One day you will see God's face and be satisfied, fully like Him.

I beseech thee, shew me thy glory.

And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.

No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

Every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him.

I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh

I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God

I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.

We shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

The Lord himself shall descend from heaven … the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Before you pray

What are you most looking forward to when you see Jesus face to face?

Prayer

Father, Moses asked to see Your glory, but no one could see Your face and live. Yet Your Son has made You known, and one day I will see His face. I know that my Redeemer lives. When He appears, I will be like Him, for I will see Him as He is. Tonight I lie down hoping to awake satisfied with His likeness. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
