Evening Prayer for April 7

About 2–3 minutes · 9 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

The LORD will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness.

Today’s takeaway: When you are sick or weak, God shares your pain and carries you in His arms.

In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them

He whom thou lovest is sick.

My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

We faint not; … though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

In him we live, and move, and have our being

He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength

The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms

Before you pray

Who is sick or weak tonight that you can bring to the Lord?

Prayer

Lord Jesus, Martha and Mary sent word that the one You loved was sick. Tonight I bring You those I love who are sick or weary, and myself where I am weak. In all our affliction You are afflicted. Your grace is enough. Make our beds in sickness, and hold us in the everlasting arms. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
