Evening Prayer for April 5

About 2–3 minutes · 9 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

Jesus the author and finisher of our faith

Today’s takeaway: Jesus began your faith and will finish it, because God completes what He starts.

I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

Who hath wrought and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I the LORD, the first, and with the last; I am he.

Sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ

The very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ

Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?

The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me

It is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

Before you pray

What unfinished work in your life can you trust God to complete?

Prayer

Lord Jesus, You are the author and the finisher of my faith, You began this work in me, and You will carry it through to the day of Christ. I cannot finish in the flesh what began in the Spirit. You will perfect what concerns me. Tonight I rest while You keep working in me both to will and to do Your good pleasure. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
