Evening Prayer for April 4

About 2–3 minutes · 10 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

Today’s takeaway: When your spirit is overwhelmed, God knows your path and is your rock and anchor.

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then thou knewest my path.

He knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.

Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations.

Thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat

Who is a rock save our God?

They shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

Uphold me according unto thy word, that I may live: and let me not be ashamed of my hope.

Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil

Before you pray

What worry can you turn into a prayer before you sleep?

Prayer

Lord, lead me to the rock that is higher than I am. When my spirit was overwhelmed today, You knew my path. You know the way I take, and when You have tested me, I will come out as gold. You have been our dwelling place in all generations. Instead of worrying, I bring You my requests with thanks. Keep my heart in Your peace. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
