Evening Prayer for April 29

About 2–3 minutes · 8 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

That blessed hope, … the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ

Today’s takeaway: Your hope is anchored in heaven, where Jesus has gone ahead, and He is coming again.

Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil; Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus

Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things

When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe

The whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. And not only they, but ourselves also, … groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

Before you pray

How does the hope of Christ's return change the way you see today's troubles?

Prayer

Lord Jesus, You have gone behind the veil for me, and my hope is anchored there, sure and steadfast. All creation groans and waits, and so do I. One day You will come to be glorified in Your saints, and when You appear, I will appear with You in glory. Until then, my prayer tonight is the Bible's last prayer: Come, Lord Jesus. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
