Evening Prayer for April 24
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
God’s Word
The eyes of all wait upon thee
Today’s takeaway: Every creature waits on God for its needs, so look to Him with patient hope.
He giveth to all life, and breath, and all things
The LORD is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.
Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them.
The same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the LORD our God
The LORD is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him.
And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the LORD; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.
If we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.
Before you pray
What are you waiting on the Lord for, and how can you wait with hope?
Prayer
Father, the eyes of all look to You, and You feed even the birds. I have needs tonight: for money, for health, for the people I love. I lift my eyes to You, the Maker of heaven and earth. Help me wait with patience for what I do not yet see, and let me not lie awake worrying. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Pray as Jesus taught us
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Amen.
Blessing
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
