Evening Prayer for April 18

About 2–3 minutes · 11 Scripture passages (KJV)

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

God’s Word

Everlasting consolation

Today’s takeaway: Jesus saves completely and forever, so your comfort in Him will never run out.

I will remember my covenant with thee in the days of thy youth, and I will establish unto thee an everlasting covenant.

By one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

He is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

The gifts and calling of God are without repentance.

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?

The Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.

So shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

This is not your rest

Here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come.

Before you pray

What earthly thing are you leaning on for security instead of God?

Prayer

Father, You have given me everlasting comfort and good hope through grace. Your gifts and calling are never taken back, and nothing can separate me from the love of Christ. This world is not my rest, and I have no lasting city here. But I will be forever with the Lord, and that comforts me tonight. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
