Morning Prayer for October 16

About 2–3 minutes · 10 Scripture passages (KJV)

My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.

God’s Word

Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord

Today’s takeaway: Serve the Lord with energy and joy today, because your work for Him matters.

Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.

Whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

Whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord

I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.

Wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?

The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.

Brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall

We desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end: That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and … inherit the promises.

So run, that ye may obtain.

Prayer

Lord, help me not to be lazy in business, but fervent in spirit, serving You. Whatever my hand finds to do, let me do it with all my might, as for You and not for people. Jesus said He must work the works of Him who sent Him while it is day, and zeal for Your house consumed Him. Give me diligence today, and let me run so as to win. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
