Morning Prayer for May 7

About 2–3 minutes · 7 Scripture passages (KJV)

My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.

God’s Word

Ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled

Today’s takeaway: When the world is shaken and the news is bad, God is still your refuge.

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof.

Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast. For, behold, the LORD cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity

In the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast.

Your life is hid with Christ in God.

He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD.

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, You told us we would hear of wars and rumors of wars, and not to be troubled. The news can shake me. Before I read or watch anything today, I want to fix my heart on You. God is my refuge and strength. Keep me calm and kind today, whatever I hear. You have overcome the world. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray as Jesus taught us

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Amen.

Blessing

The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
